Emo douchebag John Hock pleads guilty

Man guilty of posting footage of him sexually assaulting his unconscious girlfriend online:

You remember John Hock don’t you? He’s the emo douchebag who broadcast the sexual assault of his drunk and unconscious girlfriend on Stickam while at her house in Phoenix.

After all his internet flunkies came out and proclaimed his innocence after his arrest he’s pleaded guilty to the 2009 assault.

Hock pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted sexual assault and one count of voyeurism. I’m sure we’ll hear about how he was railroaded and the cops were out to get him.

He’ll be sentenced in October. No word on what the sentence may be but as usual I’m sure it won’t be enough. I’d be surprised if he even sees the inside of a cell.

Stickam on the other hand has reportedly cleaned up its act by removing the private room option since then. I still wouldn’t let your kids use it though.

Stickam threatens lifetime bans

Stickam Sets New Standard for Blocking Inappropriate Content in Live Web Video:

The article I linked to is a press release which I normally don’t link to. However if what the release says is true it’s huge news.

I’ve given Stickam a bunch of shit in the past for their lax policies for allowing minors to be harassed and sexual assaults to be broadcast. It seems that era may have come to an end.

Stickam is announcing that they are enacting a zero tolerance policy towards sexual material and will give out lifetime bans to anyone who violates the policy.

However this does not mean that Stickam or any site is completely safe. As I keep saying parents are the only true defense against internet predators and once again I would implore parents to not let your kids have webcams or let them have computers in their rooms.

Stickam Private Rooms: Is the removal about safety or money?

Stickam Quietly Turns Off Private Video Chat:

This is a great blog post from Mark ‘Rizzn’ Hopkins of SiliconANGLE about Stickam turning off the private rooms. And it’s not a great post just because he quotes me.

Mr. Hopkins wonders if the removal of the Stickam private room features will mean that the private room option will become a paid upgrade for Stickam in the future with the supposition that kids normally wouldn’t normally have access to credit cards.

That’s a great idea in theory as long as Stickam does not accept PayPal. In doing research about Stickam a lot of these kids claim to have PayPal accounts and would say in their public chats that they would do such and such if they got a certain amount donated into their PayPal account.

But again a lot of the issues on Stickam would be non-existent if parents just monitored their children’s online activity. And yes that pretty much is my answer to everything.

No more private stickam rooms?

I’ve been getting a lot of search traffic lately for phrases like “no more stickam private”. I thought to myself this couldn’t possibly be true but when I moseyed on over to stickam, after putting on my internet hazmat suit, I noticed that there were no more settings for private rooms.

Has stickam done away with private rooms or is this just a temporary glitch. As far as I know stickam has not made any kind of official announcement.

If they did turn it off it’s amazing that it only took a couple of sexual assaults.

Did Justin.tv stream child porn?

Justin.tv streams child porn: industry crackdown coming?:

Justin.tv started out as just one man, Justin Kan, who wore a cam on his cap and broadcast his life 24/7. Now it’s one of the biggest live streaming sites if not the biggest.

Now you can add it to the list of sites along with stickam and blogtv where predators roam.

Duncan Riley over at The Inquisitr has received substantial materials that indicate that not only did 13-year-old girls expose themselves on Justin.tv but also they were encouraged to do so by Justin.tv users. No nudity was included with those materials but one only has to read them to know that it happened.

Like stickam and blogtv, Justin.tv relies on users flagging inappropriate use to moderate their live streams.

Mr. Riley supposes that an industry crackdown is on its way. If you ask me it’s been a long time coming and couldn’t come soon enough.

And again this should also serve as a warning to parents that your underage kids do not need webcams and that their computers should always be kept in a place where parents can monitor them.

Parents, you are the last line of defense in protecting your kids from online predators and those predators aren’t necessarily creepy old men. They can be creepy teenagers as well.

Two more Stickam related sexual assaults

Man accused of videotaping sexual assaults on 2 teenage girls:

Emo Douchebag II is 23-year-old Richard Alan Chaney of Costa Mesa, California. He’s accused of not only assaulting not just one underage girl that he met on Stickam but two.

The first girl was 14 from Texas whom he met on Stickam. While she was visiting relatives in California she sneaked out of the house and allegedly had sex with Chaney. The assault took place in June of 2008. It wasn’t until almost a year later that the girl’s mother called the Orange County Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement team to report Chaney.

While searching Chaney’s house investigators found evidence of another assault of a 17-year-old girl that Chaney met on either Stickam, MySpace or both. He videotaped himself having sex with the 17-year-old while she was unconscious. Now why does that sound familiar? Hmmmmm? Not only does it sound like the M.O. of serial rapist Andrew Luster it also sounds like the other accused Stickam rapist John Hock.

He also videotaped himself having sex with the 14-year-old too.

Who says there’s no child molesters on Stickam? You don’t have to be a middle aged man to be one.

9-year-old girl solicited over BlogTV

9-year-old solicited on Web site for children:

A 9-year-old girl from my current hometown Charlotte, North Carolina was solicited over the live streaming video site BlogTV. Not only that but it was in their supposedly kid friendly section called BlogTV Junior. A man who was watching the girl’s broadcast allegedly asked the girl to take off her clothes.

The family had a local news crew come to their house to show them what happens on the site.

The girl’s parents showed us how it works. After logging on, we saw a young girl broadcasting from somewhere.

Almost instantly, an online user writes: “What are you wearing? Can I see the pants? Lower the cam.”

Why does that sound familiar? Oh yeah, it’s the same thing that happens on Stickam.

Speaking of Stickam, BlogTV had a similar response when contacted by the news station…

“The live broadcasts in the junior section are monitored 24/7. If there are any problems in the chat, the broadcaster and other viewers can flag the show or contact the moderation team. A moderator is sent to the room within a matter of moments.”

Yet another website with the ‘inmates running the asylum’ philosophy. After a ‘matter of moments’ it may already be too late.

The man who solicited the girl is being investigated.

Personally if I had a 9-year-old daughter she wouldn’t even be allowed near a webcam.

Alleged Stickam rapist John Hock indicted

Man accused in Web assault charged with 3 felonies:

Webcast rape suspect indicted:

Everybody’s favorite emo douche attention whoring alleged stickam rapist that no one even heard about until 8 days ago, John Hock, has officially been indicted for his ‘alleged’ crimes.

A Maricopa County, Arizona grand jury indicted Hock on three felony charges. Those charges were two counts of sexual assault and one count of voyeurism.

Hock is currently being held in Maricopa County jail which is known as one of, if not the toughest jail in the country.

I hope Sheriff Joe is giving him a nice welcome to his jail.

Some stickam users revolt

Ever since I posted the story about alleged Stickam rapist John Hock I’ve gained some new twitter friends. Those new friends are former Stickam users who have left the site in disgust after the inadequate handling by Stcikam in the case of John Hock.

One of those former users is Ron Purtee and he posted the following video on YouTube. NSFW language.

He makes all the right points. However Stickam claims that the video was never on their site. Some of the Stickam users seem to think otherwise.

Stickam CEO issues statement about broadcasted rape

Man accused of airing rape of woman online: (5th story down)

Stickam CEO Steven Fruchter issued the following statement about the alleged rape committed by John Hock (pictured) that was broadcast over Stickam.

“All of us at Stickam are deeply concerned about the well being of the young woman who was involved in this incident and our thoughts are with her and her family,” Fruchter said. “Our investigation, while still in progress, indicates that the Stickam site monitor team did in fact ‘ban’ the account of the person arrested, and the live broadcast of the incident was terminated immediately upon notification.

“Further, to the best of our knowledge, a video of the incident was never published on the Stickam Web site.”

So Hock’s account was banned and the broadcast was terminated once they were notified. So it took someone in the private room to flag the broadcast before it was stopped. I’m sure that will comfort the rape victim greatly.

Here’s a thought Steve. How about doing away with private rooms? The majority of your users are underage teens that have no real reason to have private rooms. The private room feature is just too attractive to sexual predators and pedophiles.

I’d be very surprised if that happened because I’m sure that would drive away the majority of Stickam’s traffic.

I wonder how many serious crimes like this have actually happened on Stickam that went unreported.
