Family seeks revival of MySpace suit over alleged sex assault:
The Texas family that had tried to sue MySpace over thair daughter’s sexual assault are trying to get the suit revived.
The victim, only known as Julie Doe was 14 when she was sexually assaulted by then 19-year-old Pete Solis. Solis had met his victim over MySpace. He’s now in prison for the sexual assault.
However the family of Julie Doe sued MySpace for 30 million dollars. The lawsuit was summarily dismissed. Now the family is asking the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans to overturn the dismissal.
As much as I sympathize with the family for what their daughter went through I just have to reiterate that MySpace is not at fault and this comes off as just a grab for money.

Facebook girl beaten and shot dead by her father for talking online:
I’m not sure how true this story is because everyone involved is ‘unnamed’ but I wouldn’t put it past the Saudis.
Anyway a Saudi news agency is reporting that a father brutally beat and shot his daughter to death for using Facebook to talk to a man. No ages were given of anybody involved in this story. Personally I think the story is false and is being used as a type of propaganda to keep Saudi women even more repressed than they already are.
However the article does give a good insight to the plight of Saudi women.

Yesterday I posted about Michael Allen Jones from Tennessee who is accused of having sex with a 12-year-old girl.
At the time I was unable to find his MySpace. However an old friend of the site, Mr. A, has come up with Jones’ MySpace.
And something I forgot to mention in my last post. While the older aggressor is ultimately responsible what is a 12-year-old girl doing on MySpace to begin with?

Since no age was given I was unable to find a definitive MySpace for Jones.

Conman who fleeced bedridden stranger he met on MySpace is jailed for three years:
Frazer Rogers of the UK was sentenced to three years for conning a bedridden woman out of her money. Rogers met 23-year-old Allison Eyers over MySpace. After befriending her he swindled her for thousands of pounds. Rogers theft of Ms. Eyers money drove her to attempt suicide on multiple occasions.
Again the UK is leading the way with inadequate sentencing. That’s a recurring theme at one of my other sites.

Earlier this month I posted about Michael Hurst. He’s the British man that was being tried for harassing his ex over Facebook. Well, he’s been cleared of the charges. But he’s been ordered to refrain from making any contact with his ex in the future.
Yeah, we’ll see how long that lasts.

Student Arrested for Threats Made on MySpace:
Police in Sherman, Texas arrested a 15-year-old boy from Sherman High School for posting a threat on his MySpace. The police searched his house and found nothing. In my opinion police acted correctly because you know the one time that a threat like this is not taken seriously is when it comes true.
However I have a bone to pick with a quote from the article…
MySpace has been criticized because kids can actually set up a page a post lots of personal information, and then anyone can access that information. Police say teens are at an age where they trust people, and now with the internet a parent not only has to know where there kids are, they also have to know what they’re doing online.
God forbid a parent should do their freakin’ job. Obviously there’s at least one in Sherman, Texas that didn’t.

Former South Jordan fire captain charged in child porn case:
45-year-old Michael Farnsworth of Riverton, Utah is under arrest on child pornography charges. He used to be a fire captain in the South Jordan Fire Department.
It all started when his daughter found a fake MySpace profile he was using that said he was 21-years-old. The daughter told Mrs. Farnsworth who confronted him about it. He claimed that was the profile he used to monitor his daughter’s activity on MySpace. I don’t know how he explained why all his MySpace friends were underage girls.
A co-worker of Mrs. Farnsworth tipped off police. I wonder how the coworker was tipped off. Anyway, police did a forensic search of Farnsworth’s computers and found a cache of child porn. But not just any child porn…
A forensic analysis of Farnsworth’s computer hard drives revealed several child pornography photos, including two listed on the nationwide Child Victim Identification Program.
You can’t much lower than that.
