Underwood found guilty

NEW: Jury finds Underwood guilty:
An Oklahoma jury took less than an hour to find Kevin Underwood guilty in the murder of 10-year-old Jamie Rose Bolin.

Underwood killed her, molested her, in that order, then tried to sever her head in order to consume her flesh.

The prosecution is seeking the death penalty for this monster. If there was anyone the death penalty was designed for it’s Underwood.

Harvard study on internet safety

Harvard scholars to explore Net safety:
Because the cuontry’s state Attorney’s General are too afraid to tell parents to do their damn jobs a group of Harvard scholars will be heading a year long task force on internet safety for children.

I’m actually not going to spend a whole lot of keystrokes on this story because I think it’s a waste of time, money, and effort just to tell people what should be common sense.

Facebook denies turning in Mourtada

Facebook Denies Role in Morocco Arrest:
Facebook is claiming that they gave no information to the Moroccan government as to the identity of Fouad Mourtada. Mourtada was jailed for three years for making a fake Facebook of a Moroccan prince.

Brandee Barker, a Facebook spokewoman, said in a statement that the company’s privacy policy and terms of use allow it to share information with law enforcement and other government agencies “when it has a good faith belief it is legally obligated to do so.” But with regard to the fake profile of the prince, “Facebook has shared no such information with the Moroccan authorities,” she said.

Then how did the Moroccan authorities trace the Facebook back to Mourtada? Wouldn’t that require some assistance from Facebbok?

Moroccan bloggers stand up for Facebook imitator

Moroccan Bloggers Protest Jailing for Facebook Prank:
Bloggers in Morocco are up in arms about the jailing of Fouad Mourtada. Mourtada is the man who was sentenced to 3 years in prison for making a Facebook profile that imitated Prince Moulay Rachid. As far as I know it wasn’t a parody but rather a tribute to the Prince according to Mourtada himself.

I did indeed create this account on 15 January. It remained online for several days until someone closed it down. There are so many celebrity profiles on Facebook. I never thought that by creating a profile of His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid that I was doing him any harm. Also, I did not send anyone a message from this account. It was just a joke (…) I am not a criminal.

In other artilces Mourtada said he has a great admirtation for the prince.

Moroccan bloggers are standing up for his cause stating that next a blogger could be imprisoned for his or her opinions.

Brooklyn teen nabs mugger on MySpace

Teen Catches Alleged Mugger Via MySpace Flirting:
16-year-old Yudelka Polanco of Brooklyn, NY is being commended for her fine detective skills.

She had her cell phone stolen and was able to use MySpace and the SIM card in her phone to track down the thief.

After the robbery, the mugger checked his own email using Polanco’s SIM card. So when Polanco, a junior at Norman Thomas High School, had her old information transferred to her new phone, the mugger’s e-mail address showed up.

That’s when Polanco decided to do some investigating of her own, and looked up the mugger’s e-mail on MySpace. Sure enough, a profile popped up that showed a picture of the culprit, but she wanted even more evidence.

She then had a friend of hers start flirting with the boy on MySpace.

The thief, 16-year-old Victor Hernandez, thought he was a playa and bought into it hook, line, and sinker.

The two took their evidence to police who arrested Hernandez who as it turns out was a suspect in another mugging.

See, not all MySpace stories are bad. It all depends on the child and the parents. In this case Ms. Polanco is a fine example of how MySpace can be used for good.

Thanks to everyone who sent in this story.

Alicia of Mental Health Notes here at b5 also sent this news video of the story.

Washington rapists ID'd through MySpace

Four teens charged with rape on Eastside:
Four unnamed teens from Kent and Federal Way, Washington are under arrest on rape charges.

It is alleged that they got a 16-year-old drunk and then raped her in the back of a car back in November.

Not only was the victim able to identify two of the suspects through MySpace but one of the MySpaces had a description of the attack.

The suspects were 17 at the time of the attack. One has turned 18 and they’re not sure whether or not to try them as adults. By now you should all know that trying them as adults shouldn’t even be a question.

Creepy Kentucky bus driver arrested

Bus driver accused of using MySpace to lure teen:
46-year-old Gary L. Clark of Morehead, Kentucky was a bus driver. I say was because I’m sure he’s lost his job after being arrested for soliciting a teen over MySpace.

Police said he solicited the boy to meet him Saturday and allegedly coerced him into getting into his vehicle. There, “inappropriate actions” occurred, but police declined to elaborate.

The victim was not one of the kids that rode his bus.

Utah MySapce con man arrested

Man Accused Of Targeting Women Online To Cash Bad Checks Arrested:
23-year-old Jeff Ipson of West Jordan, Utah has been arrested for scamming women out of thousands of dollars. Ipson would meet these women on MySpace then convince them that he had money. Then he would pull a scam that I usually only see on craigslist

“He said, ‘hey we’re closer to your bank and most people don’t take personal
checks so how bout I just write you a check, and you cash it for me’, and that’s how it started.”

Detectives say Ipson wrote out checks to the women, had them cash the checks at their banks and give him the money. The checks were all bad because the checking accounts had been closed.

Ipson is facing several felony charges of theft by deception.

Ohio teen torturers

Over at the most depressing site in the world, News of Doom, I posted a story about an 18-year-old girl from Ohio that was recovering from brain surgery. Two teens broke into her home and hit her in the head with a baseball bat among other atrocities.

The article I cited didn’t give the suspects’ names but thanks to reader Squeaky I not only have their names but I also have the MySpaces of 17-year-old Cheyenne Blanton, and 16-year-old Joseph Nagle.

Besides the girl who was assaulted the real victim in all of this is the baby of these criminals. I feel sorry for him that his parents are such useless members of society.

Sasquatch over there is 37-year-old David Anthony Faboo. Scruffy Dan traveled from his home in Hillsboro to Wheatland, California to pick up a 16-year-old girl he met on MySpace.

Halfway back to Oregon the girl realized she was making a mistake and text messaged a friend. The friend contacted police who kept the friend texting with the victim so they could track down the Yeti.

When they caught up with The Wolfman the girl was unharmed and Faboo was charged with second-degree kidnapping and custodial interference.

The victim is said to have a “diminished mental capacity.”
