Arrest the cheerleader, save the school

hayden-panettiere.jpgCheerleader Brings Knife, Hit List To School:
A 14-year-old cheerleader from Lindale Middle School in Linthicum, Maryland was arrested for bringing a knife to school. Apparently she posted a hit list on her MySpace. She also brought a copy of the hit list to school. The seven names on the list were other members of the cheerleading squad.

The Andover Apaches are a community cheerleading squad though seven of the girls on the squad attend Lindale Middle School.

Those seven girls were attached to a “hit list” brought to Lindale Middle School by another squad member, along with a knife. Some on the squad said they overheard the girl who brought the knife to school, saying she was going to kill some of her fellow cheerleaders.

Hit lists. They aren’t just for outcasts anymore.

Convicted murderer trolling for teens on MySpace

AG: Murderer Trolling MySpace for Teen Girls:
52-year-old Robert Nathaniel-Roosevelt Reeves II of Detroit, Michigan was arrested yesterday for trying to meet with a 14-year-old girl on MySpace. As you can guess the 14-year-old girl was actually an undercover Michigan Attorney General Special Agent.

Reeves sexual advances to the undercover agent became increasingly more aggressive and quickly led to Reeves soliciting and arranging a meeting with the undercover agent posing as the 14-year-old girl in a Novi parking lot. Reeves was immediately arrested when he appeared for the rendezvous by Attorney General Special Agents in Novi on Sunday, April 29, 2007.

Reeves is looking at two separate felony charges that both carry a 20 year sentence.

Reeves previously spent 1974-1987 in prison on a 2nd degree murder conviction.

What do you do with a drunken pirate?

drunkenpirate.jpgApparently you deny her of her teaching degree.

Would-Be Teacher Denied Degree Over ‘Drunken Pirate’ MySpace Photo Sues University:
27-year-old Stacy Snyder, pictured at left, had her teaching degree denied by Millersville University because of said picture. She was denied her teaching degree the night before her graduation and instead received a Bachelor of Arts degree. Snyder is suing the school.

Snyder received “superior” or “competent” ratings on her final student-teacher evaluation in all areas except “professionalism,” in which she was labeled “unsatisfactory,” according to the suit filed Wednesday.

“I dreamed about being a teacher for a long time,” said Snyder, 27, of Strasburg, who has two young sons. She now works as a nanny.

The photo, taken at a 2005 Halloween party, shows Snyder wearing a pirate hat while drinking from a plastic “Mr. Goodbar” cup. It was posted on her own MySpace site.

“There were errors in judgment that relate to Pennsylvania’s Code of Professional Practice and Conduct for Educators,” wrote professor J. Barry Girvin, who supervised Snyder’s work, according to the suit.

Jane S. Bray, dean of the School of Education, in a meeting that day accused Snyder of promoting underage drinking, the suit states.

That maybe the stupidest thing I ever heard or at least in the top ten. Even though the pic was labeled “Drunken Pirate” I fail to see how that promotes underage drinking. She does not look intoxicated in the picture and there’s no way to tell what she is drinking from the cup. Not to mention the fact that she was above the legal drinking age at the time the picture was taken.

Here’s the real culprit in this situation.

Snyder did her student-teaching at Conestoga Valley High School in 2006. Conestoga Valley officials told the college they would stop accepting student-teachers from Millersville if she went unpunished, the lawsuit said.

I think the officials at Conestoga Valley High School need to unwad their panties.

Snyder is seeking $75K in damages.

Paramedic sued for posting rape info on MySpace

Paramedic sued over MySpace entry:
Portland, Oregon paramedic, Simon Green, is being sued by a rape victim that he treated for posting details about the crime on his MySpace. He posted the approximate location of the crime which led the media right to the victim’s door.

On March 4, according to the suit, Green wrote on his MySpace site how the stranger followed the woman into her apartment and sexually assaulted her.

On his MySpace site he suggested victims should fight off attackers if confronted by a knife or carry a gun.

“My advice: fight. It’s only a knife, and any rapist is a coward who will probably turn tail at any resistance,” his posting read.

Police are also saying that Green’s post may also have hampered their investigation of the crime since no suspect has been captured yet.

The victim is seeking economic damages for missing work, obtaining counseling and having to move, as well as non-economic damages for emotional distress, physical illness and loss of sleep.

She accuses Green and the ambulance company of violating her protected information, citing federal privacy rules.

As someone who works in the medical field we have the federal privacy laws, known as HIPAA, drilled into our heads. Mr. Green should have known better.

Punta Gorda PD reels in another one

Police use MySpace to make pot bust:
The Punta Gorda PD strikes yet again. If this keeps up they’re going to get their own category here at MCS. For those of you new to MCS the Punta Gortda PD is my favorite police department in the U.S. because they keep busting drug dealers and users on MySpace. I think this is their 5th or 6th arrest posted on this site alone.

This time they arrested 19-year-old Christopher Sullivan. According to the article his only friend is Tom so I didn’t bother looking for his MySpace. The details of the arrest are hilarious…

Christopher Sullivan, 19, is the latest to be arrested for trying to sell marijuana to police online.

“He said he had seen the media reports concerning MySpace, and he had a feeling it was a bust but decided to show up anyway,” said Detective Tom Lewis with the Punta Gorda Police Department.

Lewis says Sullivan came to a Sweetbay grocery store parking lot to sell marijuana and because he says he was sick of smoking alone. Instead, he was met by a detective ready to arrest him.

“His initial e-mail to me was that he wanted to hook up because he was sick of smoking marijuana alone. He wanted to meet up so we could smoke together and of course we obliged,” said Lewis.

Sullivan told police that their MySpace profile was very convincing.

You may be a burnout if…you post on MySpace that you’re tired of smoking dope alone.

She says the posting was meant as a joke. I believe her but her she obviously made a bad judgment.

I could not find a Facebook for Ms. Salazar.

16-year-old runaway killed

Man charged with murder after teen found dead in burning home:
27-year-old Stanely DeHart III was arrested Monday on murder charges.

He is accused of killing 16-year-old Florida runaway Talia Ashley. She was found dead in their burning trailer. An autopsy said that she died from blunt force trauma, the kind attributed to a beating.

Investigators say they became suspicious when DeHart gave them the name and age of a different woman shortly after the fire Monday morning.

So he shacked up with a 16-year-old runaway in a trailer, allegedly beat her, allegedly killed her, more than likely set the fire, then lied about her information.

What a fine upstanding citizen he is.

MySpace's Most Wanted

Suspects Profiled On MySpace:
The famous Fort Smith Arkansas Police, who tried using MySpace to catch a bank robber, are at it again. This time they’re using their MySpace to try and catch another criminal.

The link now features a picture and description of 27-year-old Kevin Ta, a.k.a. Thinh Ngoc Ta, a former Fort Smith resident suspected of shooting Hieu Trung Tran and his brother, Tung Tran, at a birthday party on Aug. 13, 2000. Tung Tran survived, however Hieu, who was shot in the head and stomach, died at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center.

“Kevin Ta fled the Fort Smith area and has been on the run ever since,” the profile states. “Recent information suggests he is living in the Houston, Texas, area and attending school under a different name.”

According to the article Fort Smith Police will rotate which fugitive will be featured on the site.

Southern Miss suspect says threat was misunderstanding

Suspect: Threat charges a ‘misunderstanding’:
The other day I posted about USM student Yuri Wainwright. He was arrested for allegedly making a threat against USM on the internet. He’s being held on $1M bond. He spoke to a local TV station.

The 2000 Oak Grove graduate denied to 7 ON YOUR SIDE’s Pamela Weaver that he did anything wrong or was planning violence.

“So you were not planning an attack on Southern Miss?” Weaver asked.

“No.”
“What about all the weapons you had?”
“I just like to collect guns.”
“They say they have pretty hard, concrete evidence, your bond was set at a million dollars?”
“Things are really tense these times with all of the stuff happening at Virginia Tech so I can understand their overreaction on their part.”

Here’s what I don’t get…

An incident Hopkins says Wainwright was fully capable of carrying out. Authorities say they seized the Oak Grove native’s home computer, as well as shotguns and semi-automatic handguns.

“This individual was strongly considering some type of action, but when, I couldn’t tell you for sure,” he says. “But fortunately the information got to us before it culminated into that.”

Hopkins says the suspect’s MySpace page discussed the April 20, 1999, massacre at Columbine High School and gave authorities the definite indication Wainwright was planning an attack at Southern Miss.

I didn’t see any mention of Columbine on his MySpace although he does have an unnatural reaction to Jessica Simpson.

I think I’ll keep an eye on this one.
