The Home Office calls on websites to do more

’999 adverts’ to help young tell on website paedophiles:
The Home Office in the U.K. is responsible for law and order in England and Wales. They’re considering plans to order social sites like MySpace and Bebo to show ads for emergency services including the “999″ number, the U.K.’s version of 911. They believe the ads will encourage young users to call 999 when they are inappropriately contacted. The Home Office of course is calling on the website owners to better protect their users with such measures as age restrictions and age verification.

Much like the U.S. government The Home office is pointing out the problems but not offering any real solutions. Age verification of course is a great idea but there is no realistic way to verify age when users sign up for these sites. The 999 ads are a good idea but I just hope it doesn’t get abused by kids for minor problems that law enforcement don’t need to be dealing with.

The most important thing to keep kids safe online is once again not being addressed by government. Parenting.

Shwan Bauer, felony identity theft

Man Accused Of Posting Nude Photos Of Ex-Girlfriend On Web:
So you think posting nude pics of your ex on a fake MySpace is just some harmless revenge? Think again. Just ask Shawn Bauer of Wausau, Wisconsin about that. Not only did he post nude pics of his ex-girlfriend on MySpace but he also posted her phone number encouraging anyone to call her. So what did he get for his troubles? How about a charge of felony identity theft which carries a six year sentence? It turns out that his ex didn’t even have internet access and police were able to trace the MySpace back to Bauer.

And here we have Bauer’s MySpace. Check out his spelling. It’s obvious that police were not dealing with a criminal genius here. And I won’t even comment on what his main interest is. What a classy guy.

Malicious castration

Woman arrested for malicious castration:
I like what the FARK headline said. As opposed to what? Super happy fun time castration?

Anyway it seems that a North Carolina Christmas party got a little bit out of hand so to speak. At the party in Lillington, North Carolina Rebecca Arnold Dawson, 34, is accused of grabbing the host’s boyfriend’s junk during a drunken argument and attempted to manually remove it. According to police the victim needed 50 stitches to repair the damage.

Like you I have a question.

What in blue hell were they arguing about that cxaused the man to whip out his package?

We wouldn’t be talking about it here unles I had some MySpace goodness to bring you. And thanks to LiLO I shan’t disappoint.

Here we have the MySpace of Rebecca Dawson. Seems a little girly for a woman who tried to make a eunuch out of someone.

People in glass houses

Craigslist exec strives to keep the Internet neutral:
Jim Buckmaster is the CEO of craigslist. He’s concerned about Net Neutrality. Basically proponents of Net Neutrality want the government to step in and prevent ISP’s from creating tiered levels of service with the premium priced tier providing faster service to highly trafficked websites. Personally I’d prefer the government to stay out of the internet but that’s neither here nor there.

Mr. Buckmaster would like the government to get involved.

I guess I would say I’m cautiously optimistic that lawmakers will do the right thing, although it seems in a lot of cases that these things get decided according to who puts forward the most lobbying and the most campaign contributions, he said. Since the phone companies have played this game for decades, they certainly have an advantage there.

Mr. Buckmaster should be careful in invoking the name of our government and should be more concerned with cleaning up his own house. MySpace has already felt the wrath of state and federal governments due to the controversy that surrounds it. With craigslist’s reputation for drug dealing, prostitution, robberies, and assaults it’s only a matter of time before someone in the government decides to regulate craigslist.

Reposting private info

Some Rethink Posting of Private Info:
This is an excellent article from Martha Irvine, an AP journalist that I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with before. It deals with the perils and pitfalls of posting your personal information on MySpace and other social sites. Apparently some people still don’t get it

Walls of an auditorium were covered with thousands of sheets of paper printouts from MySpace, Facebook, YouTube and other online sites that were filled with back-stabbing gossip, unflattering images, and details about partying and dating exploits.

Each posting was easily accessed online, no password needed. But seeing them on paper and in some cases, being asked to read them aloud grabbed the attention of members of the North American Federation of Temple Youth, who gathered earlier this year at a camp outside New York City. That each of the pages mentioned their organization in some way only made it that much more embarrassing.

This is a must read for anybody who uses a MySpace.

Simone Walker: baby dumper

Authorities arrest teen in dumping of newborn:
Over at News of Doom (I’m all about the cross-promotion) I unfortunately post too many stories about babies being dumped in trash cans or dumpsters. Now I bring a similar unfortunate event to MCS.

Before I start let me explain another concept that started at News of Doom. Over there we don’t call the women who gave birth to these children mothers. That would be insulting to actual mothers out there. We call them FBO’s which stands for Female Birth Organisms. The following person could fit into that category.

In the town of Mays Landing, New Jersey, which is about 20 miles outside of Atlantic City, a teen FBO was arrested leaving her baby in a trash can at the Sandpiper Condominiums. The baby was luckily found in time by a resident there. The baby was in a trash bag in the trash can with the umbilical cord still attached.

This story kills me for a couple of reasons. First New Jersey was one of the first states to enact Safe Haven laws. The baby could have been brought to a hospital or police station and left with someone no questions asked. Secondly, I’m an adoptee, so any time a baby’s life is just tossed in the trash I think about all the parents that are willing to adopt but can’t due to the high cost of adopting these days. And lastly this is one of the many areas in South Jersey I grew up in so way to go in making us look like savages in Jersey.

Anyway, the suspect’s name is Simone Walker. Atlantic County prosecutor, Jefferey Blitz, is not saying if Walker is the baby’s mother. If not she agreed to assist an FBO in one of the most heinous things you could do to a child. Here is Walker’s MySpace. It’s been set to private. It says “I’m that BITCH” and I can’t disagree.

Celebrity MyCrimeSpace News

It seems that we have some celebrity crime MySpace related news today.

First up is Danny Bonaduce. Apparently he was approached on the street by some “9/11 Truther” conspiracy nuts for an interview. The nut in question claimed that the White House knew about 9/11 prior to the attack. Which in turn caused Bonaduce to do the unspeakable in show business by defending President Bush and the war in Iraq. The interview was of course videotaped and that video was criculated around YouTube. Because of that Bonaduce’s family started receiving death threats and pictures of disfigured Iraqi children were sent through his daughter’s MySpace. Bonaduce’s daughter is only 12-years-old.

No matter what you think about the President and the war in Iraq you have to admit that this 9/11 nut is an assclown. Not to mention the fact that people that have been threatening Bonaduce are classless and disrespectful at best. If you disagree with someone about their politics death threats against them and their children are not the way to go about it.

And lastly some singer I’ve never heard of by the name of Lily Allen has had her dog stolen from her London home while she was traveling in Jamaica. She’s appealing to her dog’s captors on her MySpace to return her dog. The dog suffers from a medical condition and a reward is being offered.

Help find Elissa

Family Using MySpace to Help Find Missing Daughter:
This one’s a heartbreaker.

Jared Stacy of Eastern Kentucky has a 5-year-old daughter that he hasn’t seen in 4 years. Her name is Elissa and her mother and Jared Stacy’s ex-girlfriend, Johnvanni Garcia, moved out of their Texas home in the middle of the night in 2002 taking Elissa with her.

The Stacy family is using MySpace to help find Elissa

“By noon time we already had 250 bulletins out and it was by four o’clock that afternoon, we had already reached over 10,000 people,” said Ritchie.

The family says they have received messages from all over the United States and world.

“We’re trying to get this information into as many hands and as many homes as we can,” said Jared Stacy.

The family says they just want the opportunity to see Elissa again.

“Every father deserves that chance and every aunt and uncle and grandmother, they deserve it, too,” said Ritchie.

Here is the MySpace to help find Elissa. Please take a look to see if you could provide any information. If you have a MySpace please add it to your friends list, blog about it, and send bulletins about. If the word gets out to enough people then hopefully Elissa will be returned to her father.

K reports V

K brings us another slew of ne’er-do-wells from the bowels of MySpace.

First up is Washington D.C. bus driver Theophilis A. Burroughs Jr. He’s been charged with the sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl. Ralph Kramden must be spinning in his grave. It’s been set to private so there’s nothing to be gained there.

Continuing with the bus theme we have Ritchie Calvin Davis. He stole a public transit bus but at least he picked up passengers. K thinks the MySpace might be a fake. Since it says “yeah im da nigga dat took da city bus!!!!!!” I tend to agree with K. Either that or this kid doesn’t know when to keep his mouth shut. Well, he has four years in juvie to learn that lesson.

And lastly we have someone that I posted about today over at News of Doom. One Gerald Simon Jr. He’s part of a triumvirate of West Virginia teens who set a dead puppy on fire on a woman’s doorstep. Did I mention all they were charged with was littering?

Nothing is funnier than a smoking baby

Toddler drinks, smokes on film:
Even I find this one a little hard to believe yet here we are.

It seems a Scranton, PA couple and their friend thought it would be funny if they videotaped the father’s 2-year-old daughter smoking and drinking tequila.

The “father”, Kenneth Watkins, held his daughter on his lap while she smoked a cigarette. Watkins also encourages his daughter to swear at the camera and repeatedly asks “Are you drunk yet?”

Watkins’ girlfriend, Jessica ODonnell, hands the girl a shot of tequila. Luckily the kid was smart enough not to drink it all and was basically unharmed.

Their “friend”, Wendy Watkins, was the one who taught the girl to smoke and the one who videotaped it all.

And the best part is they tried to deny it until police showed them the tape.

They’re all facing charges of corruption of a minor and reckless endangerment.

Thanks to K, we have the MySpaces of all 3 of them.

First up is Watkins himself. If MySpaces were haircuts his would be a mullet.

Next is the 18-years younger than him girlfriend, Jessica ODonnell, which just drips with class. Kind of like a velvet Elvis painting.

And lastly we have the “friend”, Wendy Watkins. Related? I’m not sure but I wouldn’t doubt it. If you dare click on her MySpace your browser will crash.

It’s like they have their own private Springer episode.
