Georgia schools disrupted over sexual MySpace
Authorities seek gossipy high school MySpace blogger:
Authorities in Northeast Georgia are trying to find the person who posted a long list and description of supposed sexual encounters between dozens of county high school students on the online networking site MySpace.com.
Oconee County Sheriff’s investigators say they need to punish the person responsible because the gossip not only disrupted school but also it falls under the offense of distributing obscene materials to minors. The postings were made between Sept. 1-9.
“If we don’t take some kind of action, we are going to send the message that we’re not taking this seriously. The school has the responsibility to take every action they can to help keep the slander down,” said Lt. David Kilpatrick, who’s been on the trail of the posting’s creator since Sept. 9, the day when the majority of the students found the site.
Nearly every class period then was disrupted or delayed after students confronted one another, even though arguments never became physical scuffles, said North Oconee High School Principal John Osborne.
If the creator is a current student, Osborne says that student could be expelled because the school’s conduct code covers behavior off-campus that affects life at school.
The person responsible might also face civil action from the parents of the students who were cited online, Osborne said.
“There’s a lot of difference between writing on a bathroom wall and distributing it all over the world on the Internet where anyone has access to it,” Kilpatrick said.

Is it just me, or does anyone else find this to be ridiculous? There weren’t pictures, right? More of a written log of who does/did what? Hmm….my answer is, DON’T DO IT and your name won’t be up there. Or at least keep your own mouth closed.
